The program, which has been very effective at significantly increasing the reading levels of children over the summer, is in Wilmington, Delaware.\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>The SLI positions are 8 week paid full time teaching internships ($985\/wk) for college students and graduates.<\/strong> \u00a0The program starts June 17, 2024, and goes on through August 2, 2024.\u00a0 SLI\u2019s are responsible for teaching and nurturing students, as well as engaging with parents and the community. Using the Integrated Reading Curriculum, they serve as teachers in the classroom and as leaders of workshops and community outreach activities.<\/p><p><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Teach the Integrated Reading Curriculum to a class of no more than ten students for 6 weeks during the summer months, according to the standards developed by the Children&#8217;s Defense Fund and the PSFLF.<\/li><li>Set up and break down his\/her classroom space, including securing and organizing the appropriate materials from your Site Coordinator or Project Director.<\/li><li>Collaborate with staff to establish and maintain a supportive and structured environment for the children entrusted to their care.<\/li><li>Serve as a\u00a0<em>Harambee!\u00a0<\/em>leader each day of program operation.<\/li><li>Serve as a leader of afternoon activities and other special events; chaperone field trips.<\/li><li>Participate fully in the National Training from May 28 to June 2, 2024.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Must be at least 19 years of age, have completed at least one year of college, and have plans to complete the college degree.<\/li><li>Maintain or have graduated with at least a 2.9 GPA<\/li><li>Experience managing large groups of children, and parents<\/li><li>Solid commitment to children\u2019s advocacy and enthusiasm for the\u00a0<em>CDF Freedom Schools\u00a0<\/em>program<\/li><li>Ability to motivate others and work as part of an intergenerational team<\/li><li>Strong appreciation and understanding of individual cultural history and the willingness to be open and respectful of all cultures<\/li><li>Willingness to strive for excellence in all areas and ability to think critically and analytically<\/li><li>Exhibit positive behavior and attitude;
